Arch of Gallienus

The Arch of Gallienus is an ancient Roman arch located in Via San Vito. Its construction was carried out along the Servian Walls, in substitution of one of the gates: the Porta Esquilina. The Arch was built to honor the memory of the Emperor Gallienus, who was killed in A.D. 268, and his wife Salonina. Under the Arch you can read an inscription dedicated to the Emperor Gallienus, carved after the Arch building.
